In 2024, IWRAW Asia Pacific, in collaboration with the Women Gaining Ground (WGG) consortium, hosted the ninth edition of the Global South Women’s Forum under the theme of ‘Dreams of Disability Joy and Justice‘.
GSWF 2024 convened feminist activists from Asia, East Africa, and the Pacific across the feminist and disability justice movements under three primary objectives:
- Transformative Leadership and Political Participation
- Disability in the Context of a Changing World
- Building Our Political Agenda and Collective Ways of Working
Disability justice was not just a theme for the Global South Women’s Forum, but a lens for analysis and integration across various issues that will be brought up. Most importantly, GSWF 2024, in the tradition established by previous convenings, strived for a safe, accessible, and affirming space that allowed us to create meaning and community together.
The GSWF 2024 outcome document captures an overview of the rich, deep, and introspective conversations held across different strands of advocacy demands, lived realities, and grassroots, national, regional, and international contexts.
