Taking place from 11 – 22 March 2024 at the United Nations headquarters in New York City, the 68th Commission on the Status of Women will address its priority theme ‘Accelerating the achievement of gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls by addressing poverty and strengthening institutions and financing with a gender perspective’.
Simultaneous to the session focusing on this year’s theme, the Commission will also be reviewing the agreed conclusions of the 63rd CSW and its theme of ‘Social protection systems, access to public services and sustainable infrastructure for gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls’.
The Commission on the Status of Women continues to be a key intergovernmental space and process which tracks the responsiveness of key UN agendas concerning gender equality and women’s human rights, namely the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action.
